Sporefall — The Rotmire Raid Guide

Sporefall is the single-boss bonus raid added in the Midnight: Revelations update (Patch 12.0.7). There’s only one encounter inside — Rotmire, a towering fungal giant the sporecallers have been growing in the Grudge Pit — but don’t let the short clear fool you. It ramps hard, and sloppy pulls fall apart fast. Think of it as a focused weekly checkpoint rather than a full tier.

At a glance

  • Location: Harandar, near the Grudge Pit delve. Set your waypoint with /way 73.7 66.5. The nearest flight point is Har’athir to the north.
  • Bosses: 1 (Rotmire)
  • Difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic — and Mythic is Flex, scaling for groups of 15 to 25 players. This is the first raid in WoW history to do that, so we’re no longer locked to an exact 20-player roster for Mythic.
  • Requirements: Level 90; Raid Finder needs a minimum item level of 240.
  • Lockout: Standard weekly — one kill per character per difficulty, per week.

The fight: one loop, escalating pressure

Rotmire is an energy-based fight. He fills an energy bar from 0 to 100, then detonates Fungal Bloom — and the cycle repeats, getting nastier each time. There are no separate phases or puzzles; it’s the same loop under steadily mounting strain.

That strain comes from Rotting Pustules: at the start of each cycle Rotmire channels this and gains stacks that raise the damage the whole raid is taking. It’s the soft enrage. The longer the fight drags, the harder the healing checks get — so the raid pushes damage rather than trying to outlast the timer.

Core mechanics (Normal / Heroic)

  • Putrid Fist (tanks): Swap after every cast. It knocks the tank into the air and increases the damage they take for 14 seconds, and it stacks — so no tank should eat two in a row.
  • Add spawns: Green circles appear around the room marking where Shroomlings will spawn. Don’t stand in the circles. The adds fixate on players, so drag them to your designated stack spot and AoE them down together, in one place. Killing adds early or out of position makes the next step much harder.
  • Festering Vines: Several players get a large green circle, a heavy slow, and a persistent ground pool when it expires. Carry it to the edge of the arena so the center stays clear for the next add wave. Movement abilities or immunities (Blessing of Freedom, Tiger’s Lust, etc.) are gold here.
  • Fungal Bloom (100 energy): A massive Nature-damage shockwave knocks the whole raid backward and applies a 16-second damage-over-time effect — the fight’s biggest healing check. Healers should pre-plant raid cooldowns. Right after, all the add corpses become Bursting Shrooms, and you have ~16 seconds to kill them all before they blast the raid.
  • The Fungal Frenzy warning: Any add still alive when Rotmire hits 100 energy is fully healed and gains Fungal Frenzy — +100% damage, +50% movement speed, and CC immunity. Translation: get the adds down before Bloom, every time.

Heroic addition

  • Sporecaps spawn away from the boss and cast Poison Burst. Interrupt it or the raid wipes — then kill them. They also stack raid-wide damage if left free-casting.

Mythic notes (Flex 15–25)

Mythic keeps the core loop but adds two wrinkles that make it a positioning puzzle:

  • Funglings: A second add type from Awaken Fungi. They fixate a random player and need to be killed like Shroomlings.
  • Cross Fertilization: A Shroomling corpse and a Fungling corpse within 10 yards of each other spawn a Doom Shroom that wipes the raid. You have to kite and kill the two add types in separate areas. Most Mythic wipes come from corpses landing in the wrong spot, not from a lack of damage.

Loot & rewards

All gear here is Sporefused, meaning it drops at the fully-upgraded item level for its difficulty with no upgrade track to grind:

  • Raid Finder: ilvl 259
  • Normal: ilvl 272
  • Heroic: ilvl 285
  • Mythic: ilvl 298

There are no tier set pieces — instead Rotmire’s table has armor for each armor type, jewelry, and a trinket, including a couple of special “Cantrip” items (Rotmire’s Sporeheart and the Sporecaller’s Blooming Loop) with bonus effects.

Beyond gear, the fungal-themed collectibles are the real draw:

  • Luminous Sporeglider mount — Rotmire drops a guaranteed Delicious Sporesnack each week per difficulty; collect four and combine them to claim the mount.
  • Luminous Rotshroom — a glowing housing-decor item.
  • Madcap Redcap — a toy that lets your whole group “become one with the fungus” (20-minute buff, persists through death).
  • Mycomancer’s Hearthspore — a hearthstone effect.

Finally, the intro quest Sporefall: Rotmire (completed on your first kill at any difficulty) hands you a Void-Twisted Sporbit, which converts into a Nebulous Voidcore — the bonus-roll currency for Midnight’s Voidforge system. Worth grabbing once.

TL;DR

  • Stack and burn Shroomlings at your spot; never let one live into Fungal Bloom.
  • Carry Festering Vines pools to the wall; keep the center clean.
  • Tanks swap on Putrid Fist.
  • Heroic: interrupt Poison Burst from Sporecaps.
  • Mythic: keep Shroomling and Fungling corpses 10+ yards apart or a Doom Shroom wipes you.
  • Healers stack cooldowns for the Fungal Bloom pulse and the Bursting Shroom cleanup.

Ready to clear it?

It’s a short run, so it’s a great weekly stop for the whole guild — gear, a mount, and a Voidcore roll for half an hour of work. Keep an eye on the events section for sign-ups, and bring questions or strats to the forums. See you in Harandar.
