Welcome to the New Site — Making Your Account & Logging In

The new Ancestral Arcanum site is live, and we’d love for you to make an account. Whether you’re here to talk strategy in the forums, sign up for raids, or just hang around with the guild, an account is your way in. Here’s how it works — and, just as importantly, what we can and can’t see when you sign up.

Logging in with Blizzard

When you’re ready, click Login with Blizzard. You’ll be sent over to Blizzard’s own login page — the same one you’d use for the launcher or your Battle.net account — and you sign in there. You enter your Blizzard credentials on Blizzard’s site, never on ours.

Your privacy: what we actually receive

This is the part worth reading closely, because a lot of people are (rightly) cautious about “log in with X” buttons.

When you finish logging in, Blizzard hands back exactly one thing: confirmation that the login worked. That’s it. Specifically:

• We never see your Blizzard password. You don’t type it here, so there’s nothing for us to see, store, or lose.
• We don’t get your email address or your real name. Blizzard doesn’t send those over.
• Your account here is built on your Blizzard ID — a stable identifier that simply lets the site recognize you as you when you come back. No personal details are attached to it.

If you want to add an email address or a display name later, you can do that yourself in your profile, on your own terms, whenever you feel like it — or not at all. It’s entirely up to you.

Prefer not to use Blizzard? Make a standalone account

If you’d rather not log in through Blizzard at all, you can create a standalone account for the site instead. Just head to ancestralarcanum.com/wp-admin and register there.

This route does require an email address to set up — but that account stands entirely on its own and won’t be tied to any Blizzard account. It’s simply another way in for anyone who’d prefer to keep the two separate.

Managing your characters

Once you’re logged in, head to the Admin Dash link — the button up in the site navigation. From there you can add and manage your WoW characters so the rest of the guild knows who’s who.

Forums and events

The site has forums for discussion and an events section for raids and guild happenings. Both are open to you once you’re logged in, so jump in and make yourself at home.

Want to help build the site?

If you’d like contributor access to help shape the site, let me know — that’s me, Anubrin.

For now, please make any requests in the Off Topic forum, including requests for new forums to be created. Post it there and I’ll get to it.

See you out there.
